This is a true story of a grandmother, Sahoom, a Palestinian woman whose home, rights, and childhood in Haifa were torn apart and stolen.
It is a story of how she was attacked, exiled, and forced to live under olive trees to fight for survival. This book explains how Sahoom survived the Nakba and had no option but to rebuild, because she was never allowed to return. But it also explains how her homeland lives and grows inside her, and now, at 90 years of age, she still carries the trauma in every aspect of her daily life. This is a testimony for Palestine lived through Sahoom’s eyes. I hope her story will keep Palestine alive, in hearts and in the fight.
